It is the most UNIQUE JEWEL in golf, Argentina has to offer. You may love it or hate it, but you will not find a course like this anywhere in the world.
Established in 1900 and known as “The Cathedral”, the Playa Grande Course is located in the most expensive lot of land in the city, housed in a side of a hill in front of Mar del Plata Port. It is a short course but quite challenging if the wind is blowing; this course is a true “golf jewel”. Maybe, its main peculiarity is that, no matter the line you take, your putter will always fall towards the sea. Its grand Tudor-style clubhouse offers great facilities. Hard to find a flat lie on the course, with big elevations and drops, where you need a sharp iron shots, to then face hard and fast greens.
The 8th hole, a par 3 of 126 yards, is probably the best short/tough par 3 in the world that can even require a 5 iron when the wind is blowing into you. The green is "small as a coin", and rolls fast towards the sea. With bunkers on the left hand side and a drop of around 60 feet to the right, missing the green almost guarantees a bogey (or worse).
